At UNCG – and across the UNC System – our goal is for our students, faculty, and staff to be on campus. It is imperative that everyone is aware and informed of our plans and expectations.
The intent of this webpage is to summarize plans and information about how our campus will operate this spring after the Winter Break and throughout the semester. Please remain vigilant about monitoring your email and this website.
Shield Our Spartans
It will take all of us together to keep our community safe and healthy. The primary way COVID-19 spreads is through person-to-person contact, so our best hope of preventing its spread is by changing the way we behave. We will expect students to show care for their friends, peers, colleagues, and neighbors. This means students are required to wear face coverings when close to others, wash their hands often and properly, and practice social distancing.
UNCG is in frequent contact with Guilford County Public Health, the UNC System, state and federal officials, and other experts as we move forward. If the situation, our knowledge, or the guidance changes, we will be ready to adapt and flexible in making decisions that keep the health of our students and employees – especially those most at risk – and our community at the forefront of our decision making.
Testing and Vaccines
Testing to determine your status is an important tool and we will provide information about ways that you can have the test performed. There are options through Guilford County, NC Department of Health and Human Services, private companies such as StarMed as well as the University.
As of January 6th the NCDHHS reports that we are in Phase 1A of the vaccination schedule in North Carolina. This provides the vaccine to health care workers fighting COVID-19 & Long-term care staff and residents. Included in this group are the UNCG healthcare workers on the front lines of student health. Watch for announcements on future phases of the vaccination schedule including Phase 3 for students. Complete information can be found at the NCDHHS website.
